PORTS OF CALL
The Creation of a Port Destination
The definition of a Port of Call is a place where a ship might immediately stop to load or unload cargo and has traditionally been industrial and commercial in use and appearance. IDEA, Inc.'s definition of a Port of Call is a port that is part of a Guest Experience or itinerary. IDEA Ports of Call are comprehensive Guest Experience-driven environments that also include Land-Side Commercial Development. These Ports become extensions of the community and include retail, and food and beverage outlets, as well as Residential Components. They have a sense of arrival, sense of place, and establish a place in time for arriving Guests. Our Ports of Call not only facilitate the arrival of Guests, they embrace them. By re-creating themselves into world class Destinations reflecting the location's culture and energy, tomorrow's Ports will provide a truly memorable and compelling Guest Experience with a commanding Brand that will have Tourists asking for them by name.

Foundry Yard Area

HISTORIC FALMOUTH JAMAICA
Falmouth, Jamaica
Site Scope: 35 acres
Honored visions of a celebrated past served as the inspiration for IDEA's Historic Falmouth Jamaica Project, a strategic design concept created to reinvigorate the inherent charm of Falmouth, Jamaica. As one of the Caribbean's most historic and well-preserved Cities, IDEA's key focus was to return Falmouth to its original 18th century glory days as one of the busiest Ports in Jamaica celebrating her people and preserving her unique history, culture, and architectural design. Drawing from similarly preserved cities such as Williamsburg, Virginia, and Savannah, Georgia, Historic Falmouth Jamaica will be an enchanting blend of authentically restored Georgian architecture infused with lavish tropical details. A Georgian-styled restoration of the sea wall, wharf district, and pedestrian waterfront commercial district, launched IDEA's historic restorations by establishing a waterfront promenade area to feature historic attractions such as the recreated Foundry Yard of Falmouth and the authentically restored Tharp House. Throughout Falmouth, Guest transportation is period appropriate with the Historic Falmouth Trolley and horse-drawn carriages setting the scene as Guests explore a rich variety of shopping, dining, and historic attractions set along the brick paved streets. Excursions from Falmouth abound including the Orange Valley Estate, Greenwood Great House, and a replicated Jamaican rum factory tour. Offering a distinctive environment within the niche of Caribbean Destinations, Historic Falmouth Jamaica captures the allure of a laidback tropical atmosphere while the fascinating history and charm is emphasized to create a rare and unforgettable Guest Experience.
